Digital Farmer offers trainings and innovative teaching methodologies for a qualification of the VET system in agriculture and ultimately, improve the competences of the stakeholders in the agricultural sector.

Beyond the soil,

Digital Farmer aims at contributing to the transformation of VET institutions to better include in their programmes digital tools in teaching activities and latest innovations in the agricultural sector with a dual action on trainers and students, creating an international and multisectoral network.

Agriculture contributes 25 million tonnes of oil equivalent (12.3 %) to renewable energy production (2015), which is an increase of  15 % from 2013 to 2015 (DG AGRI, 2017).

The project will support farmers in developing a new set of skills in different fields of application which have been identified as future trends in the agricultural sector:  Decision Support Systems (DSS); Block Chain Technologies; Information and communication technologies (ICT); Nirs and Drones; Farmbot and E-Commerce software, marketing and advertising platforms.

All these systems will be able to provide solutions to address a number of challenges such as labour shortages, waste reduction and supply chain management.

The project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union and will involve 7 partners from Italy, Romania, Estonia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey and Greece.
