The project Digital Farmer has been designed to respond to the needs of agriculture and food production sector which are changing so fast following the employment of digital technologies. Indeed, digital technologies enable better traceability of agricultural products, providing peace of mind for consumers and greater value for farmers. Consequentially, farmers need to develop and to acquire new skills in the field of agriculture. Through European funding and an international multi-stakeholder cooperation, Digital Farmer intends to produce teaching materials and innovative work-based learning methodologies for educators and teachers in the field of agriculture, platforms for awareness raising, exchange of good practices and a general qualification of European VET systems related to agriculture.
In order to reach project’s objectives, the seven partners of the project will implement various activities:
Local roundtables: each partner will activate their network to collect best practices and latest innovation related to digital education and agricultural sector.
International Workshop: during International Workshop partners will discuss the basis of the drafting of the Manuals Digital VET Trainer in Agriculture.
International Training: training will involve VET educators and will be held both in synchronous and asynchronous modality
Digital Traineeships: internships abroad in digital form are one of the innovative project actions and their implementation will ensure continuity of work-based learning within the Erasmus+ programme.
Through the implementation of the activities above, Digital Farmer will bring to the following results:
Manual: Digital VET Trainer in Agriculture - aims at providing an organic text to educators and teachers for strengthening competences in the agricultural sector and in digital tools and methodologies applied to teaching activities.
Manual: Digital Traineeship in Agriculture - a manual to update VET trainers competences in agriculture and for organising new work-based learning experiences in digital format. The manual will be divided in 6 macro-area related to the new trends and technologies in agriculture 4.0: Decision Support Systems (DSS); Block Chain Technologies; Information and communication technologies (ICT); Nirs and Drones; Farmbot and E-Commerce software, marketing and advertising platforms. Moreover, Digital Traineeship in Agriculture will be a useful tool for the whole teaching community, from policy makers to students.
MOOC Digital VET Trainer in Agriculture– aims at transmitting the basic skills for effective distance learning and increasing skills related to the macro-arguments of innovation in agriculture and on the methodologies and techniques
Platform: Network of Digital Farmers - the platform will enable stakeholders, teachers and trainers to create a network, to exchange best practices and innovative methodologies (areas: distance learning, digital innovations in agriculture.)
